Managing Your Personal Profile and Settings

Written by Kadri - RichAPI Support Team

The Profile tab of the RichAPI Settings page holds your personal account. The tab updates your profile picture, your display name, your dashboard language, your email address, your password, and multi-factor authentication. Your API keys and your workspace members belong to a workspace, and your credits belong to the organization, not to your personal account.

What is the difference between a RichAPI personal account and a workspace?

A RichAPI personal account is you. A RichAPI workspace is a shared container for API keys and members. One person can belong to more than one workspace. All workspaces in one organization spend from one credit balance, and each workspace can have its own monthly spend limit.

[account] is the workspace URL fragment. For a workspace with the URL fragment acme-corp, the key page is /home/acme-corp/api-keys.

A key that you create belongs to the workspace, and every member of that workspace can see it. A request with that key spends from the organization balance and counts toward the spend limit of that workspace. If you belong to two workspaces, you hold two separate key lists. Two workspaces in one organization share one credit balance.

How to open the RichAPI Profile tab

  3. Wait for the cards of the Profile tab. The Settings page opens on this tab.

The address of the tab is /home/[account]/settings?tab=profile. The same tab opens from every workspace, and it shows the same personal settings.

The display name shows next to your picture in the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar. The name is a label for you. The name is not the name of a workspace.

How to change your RichAPI profile picture

  1. Select Account > Settings in the sidebar.

  2. Find the Your Profile Picture card.

  3. Select the round upload area.

  4. Choose an image file on your computer.

  5. Wait for the message Profile successfully updated.

The upload control accepts image files only. RichAPI removes the previous file and stores the new one. The account menu at the bottom of the sidebar then shows the new picture next to your name.

To remove the picture, select Clear next to it. After the removal, the account menu shows the first letter of your display name.

How to change the email address on your RichAPI account

CAUTION: Make sure that you control the new mailbox. Your new email address will become your primary login and will receive all verification and alert emails.

  1. Select Account > Settings in the sidebar.

  2. Find the Update your Email card.

  3. Type the new address in the Your New Email field.

  4. Type the same address in the Repeat Email field.

  5. Select Update Email Address.

  6. Wait for the alert Email update request successful.

What happens after you request a RichAPI email change?

RichAPI sends a confirmation message to the new address. The alert on the card states it: We sent you an email to confirm your new email address. Please check your inbox and click on the link to confirm your new email address.

The old address stays on the account until you select the link in that message. After you select the link, RichAPI returns you to the Settings page, and the next sign-in uses the new address.

RichAPI shows the dashboard in English until you choose another language. The dashboard reads no language preference from your browser settings.

How to change the RichAPI dashboard language

  1. Select Account > Settings in the sidebar.

  2. Find the Language card.

  3. Open the list.

  4. Select a language.

  5. Wait for the page to reload.

The same list also sits at the bottom of the sidebar on every dashboard page. RichAPI stores the choice in a lang cookie for one year. The choice therefore follows the browser, not the account. A second computer starts in English again.

How to reset or change your RichAPI account password

To change your password while you are signed in:

  1. Select Account > Settings in the sidebar.

  2. Find the Update your Password card.

  3. Type your current password.

  4. Type the new password in both new-password fields. It needs 8 to 99 characters.

  5. Select Update Password.

  6. Wait for the message Password update request successful.

If you forgot your password, select Forgot Password? on the sign-in page, or open https://app.richapi.ai/auth/password-reset. Type your email address, and RichAPI emails you a link to reset the password.

To add a second step to your sign-in, enroll an authenticator factor in the Multi-Factor Authentication card. For the full procedure, the factor table, and the recovery route, read Securing Your Account with Multi-Factor Authentication.

Where is the RichAPI theme setting?

The theme sits in the account menu of the sidebar, under the Theme submenu. The theme is a browser setting, and it applies to every workspace that you open in that browser. For the three options and the steps, read Workspace Settings, Themes, and Security.

How to delete your personal RichAPI account

WARNING: Save the data that you need before you ask for the deletion. Nobody can undo the deletion of an account.

The Profile tab shows no Danger Zone card, so the deletion has no self-service button.

  1. Open the mailbox of the address on your account.

  2. Write to [email protected] from that address.

  3. Ask for the deletion of your RichAPI account.

  4. Name the workspaces that you own.

To leave one workspace and keep your account is a different action. The dashboard has no self-service control for it. Ask an Owner of that workspace to remove you on the Members tab of the Organization page. If you are an Owner and want to hand the workspace over, promote a new Owner first, then write to [email protected]. To close a whole workspace, write to [email protected]. For both routes and for the transfer of ownership, read Leaving a Workspace and Transferring Ownership.

Frequently asked questions

Do my RichAPI credits belong to me or to my workspace?

Credits belong to the organization. A request that uses a key of a workspace spends from the balance of that workspace's organization. Your personal account holds no credit balance and no API key.

Does a change of my RichAPI display name rename my workspace?

No. The display name is a label on your personal account. The workspace keeps its own name in the Team Name card on the Team tab of the Settings page. Only the workspace owner can change that name.

How do I delete my RichAPI account?

Write to [email protected] from the email address on the account and ask for the deletion. The Profile tab shows no Danger Zone card, so support performs the deletion.

Does my RichAPI language choice follow me to another computer?

No. RichAPI stores the language in a lang cookie in one browser for one year. A different browser, a different computer, or a cleared cookie starts the dashboard in English again.

Can I change the email address on my RichAPI account?

Yes. Change it in the Update your Email card on the Profile tab, then select the link in the confirmation message to complete the change.

Does a change on the RichAPI Profile tab cost credits?

No. A change of the name, the picture, the language, the email address, the password, or a factor charges no credit. RichAPI charges credits for successful API requests only. Every member of a workspace can edit their own Profile tab.

Where does my RichAPI profile picture show?

The Your Profile Picture card shows the current picture. The account menu at the bottom of the sidebar shows the same picture next to your display name. If the account holds no picture, the menu shows the first letter of the display name.
